" While on the road with the non-profit Giants of Africa during summer 2017, we made a stop in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Our two-day camp brought us to a private American school that featured an indoor gym and this colorful outdoor court. Walking up the gym's staircase, I was able to capture this surreal oasis in hidden in Uganda's tropical landscape.”

" South Africa is not known for its basketball culture, however, the country is home to one of the oldest basketball non-profit in the world: Hoops 4 Hope. While in Cape Town for a few days in 2014 I connected with the volunteers to explore the city's courts, from the townships to fancy areas like Camps Bay where this photo was taken. We were playing on a small court facing the Table Mountain, while I found this garage hoop, hidden behind a big door. I had to raise my arms and shoot this sharp shadow and colorful wall.“

" Summer 2019 marked one of the most memorable basketball journeys I ever made. I embarked on a plane to Mogadishu, Somalia's capital, with my teammates from Giants of Africa for a basketball clinic. From the sky, the coast looked amazing, but landing on the airport tarmac brought us to reality, we were entering into a war zone. Armed forces drove us to the Elman Foundation, where a group of women was waiting to meet us and, most importantly, work on their game. Basketball is not common out there, especially for women; sports are prohibited. The ball pictured here was the main basketball used by these women before our arrival, this bright orange lost in the blue Somalian sea, a symbol of hope for these souls finding joy and relief in the game they love. "
